Ohio Department of Aging to Host Six Town Halls in August and September
Feedback from town halls will be used to develop Ohio’s 2027-2030 State Plan on Aging
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Aging (AGE) will host six town halls across Ohio in August and September. Older Ohioans, caregivers, providers, and others will have an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at helping Ohioans live longer, healthier lives with dignity and autonomy.
Combined with information AGE gathered at community listening sessions earlier in the summer, feedback from these new town halls will be used to develop Ohio’s 2027-2030 State Plan on Aging (SPOA).
The first town hall will be August 15 in Findlay, followed by one more town hall in August and four in September.
“Listening to Ohioans and getting their feedback is an important part of guiding the Department of Aging,” said AGE Director Ursel J. McElroy. “With these town halls, Ohioans can be a part of planning the future of aging in this state. Together, we can accomplish our vision of making Ohio the best place to age in the nation.”
Below is the full schedule of town halls. All Ohioans are eligible to attend these sessions, and they can register by completing this survey.

The State Plan on Aging is a comprehensive roadmap to improve the overall health and well-being of older Ohioans. It is led by AGE and supported by the Health Policy Institute of Ohio.
The most recent version of AGE’s State Plan was released in 2022 and covers federal fiscal years 2023-2026. Ohio’s 2023-2026 State Plan on Aging implements a collaborative approach that stood out from other aging plans across the country. The plan called on all Ohioans – including state and local partners in both the public and private sectors – to join forces to help Ohioans live longer, healthier lives with dignity and autonomy.
Ohioans can also take the department’s Statewide Needs Assessment Survey to enable the department to better understand what matters most to older Ohioans, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers. Feedback from those digital surveys will be used to further bolster the 2027-2030 State Plan on Aging.
