Project Title:
Ensuring Quality Care for Persons with Dementia: A Review of State Specific Training Standards
Project Summary:
The project, funded by the Alzheimer’s Association, involved a comprehensive review of state and federal training requirements for those working with people living with dementia across care and community settings. A master matrix and narrative report were created to increase understanding of common themes including curricula, required training hours, and training formats.
Current Whereabouts:
I am in my final year of graduate school, completing my dissertation, which tests a novel model of self-compassion to better understand the experiences of caregivers for people living with dementia. In addition to my academic work, I serve as a Research Fellow at the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging and continue to work in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association to develop and test evidence-based programs aimed at improving care and support for caregivers and people living with dementia.
Future/ Desired Plans:
I’m currently in the process of applying for research and academic positions that align with my research interests including the caregiving stress process, theoretical modeling, and intervention development. My goal is to continue developing theoretical research and evidence-based programs for caregivers and those they care for.
