Who and/or what influenced your decision to apply for the Scholars program?

The experience of working with Professor Jennifer Kinney as a Graduate Assistant on a project during my first semester at Miami University motivated my interest in the Scholars program. I was fascinated by the opportunities to learn more about aging services in the United States, specifically Ohio, in a way I can replicate in my home country, Nigeria.

Describe your favorite experience as a Scholar.

 I had a great experience as a member of the 2024 cohort of scholars. One of my favorite experiences was meeting with the staff team and director of the Ohio Department of Aging and learning about the state of Ohio’s strategic plan, policies, and interventions designed to empower older adults in Ohio. Another favorite experience was sharing the results and details of my projects with conference participants.
