While I was working towards my Master of Gerontological Studies (MGS) degree at Miami University, my professor, Dr. Bob Applebaum, introduced me to this program.
Bob felt that I would be a good candidate for the program, especially given my interest in public policy and my eagerness to learn all I could before graduation. Before I applied, I also reached out to some program alumni from Miami to gather their perspectives and consulted the OAGE website for more details. It seemed like the perfect program to help me expand my knowledge on a variety of topics.
I truly enjoyed every aspect of this program, from the conference to our monthly sessions with guest speakers. If I had to pick one experience, I would say that “AAA Day” was my favorite of all. Each Scholar traveled to the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) nearest them to learn from different staff about what it’s like working there.
