Paper title: University-Supported Intergenerational Learning Center—A proposal to establish a collaboration between Ohio Living Senior Center and Youngstown State University
This proposal seeks to establish a collaboration between Ohio Living Senior Center and Youngstown State University (YSU) to create a University-Supported Intergenerational Learning Center that will address the changing needs of older adults in the community while creating a ‘living lab’ for YSU students to gain hands-on experience working with the aging population. Ohio Living has a long-standing and proud tradition of providing high quality and innovative care and support to the aging population in the state of Ohio and in the Mahoning Valley. YSU is a state-funded Institute of Higher Learning in Ohio that offers various degree programs in health and human services as well as programs to the community that provide social, physical, emotional, and intellectual stimulation. This collaboration will also seek to address the broader issue of the workforce shortage in elder care and services.
